Glitter is my favorite color

Continuing on with the red lips I posted about a few minutes ago, I want to share something else with you! This look has become something of a signature of mine. I used to perform in a Rocky Horror shadow cast and was playing the role of Magenta one week. I usually liked to be fairly true to the costume and makeup for any character I played, but I always tried to make each one my own in one way or another (I always had sqeak toys in my bra when playing Janet, my Eddie usually had a mowhawk). With Magenta, I came up with these lips. They are also in my profile picture. It's super quick and easy to do:

Lip Pencil, Glitter, Eyelash Adhesive are required; Lip Primer, Concealer or Highlighter Pen, and Lip Balm or Chapstick are optional.

Optional: Apply Lip Primer on lips and Concealer or Hihglighter Pen around lip area and blend right on the outside of the lip. This will creat a subtle contrast and really make your lips pop! The Concealer or Highlighter cannot be oil based!

Apply Lip Liner. This needs to be done with Lip Pencil, not lipstick. The color cannot be oil based at all.

Apply Adhesive. I find it best to do bottom first, then top. I apply 3 good layers of adhesive and wait a couple of seconds to let it get tacky.

Pat glitter on lightly. Give yourself a couple of layers, and really pack it on there after the first couple of light coats.

Optional: Make and exageratted pucker to apply balm on the inside of your lips. This will simply keep your lips from catching on the glitter and makes the whole thing a little more comfortable.

Take a Q-tip or clean makeup brush to swipe away any excess glitter. This will give you a clean, sharp, defined edge.

This is great for a festive look. You don't have to just use red glitter either! I've done this look with bright pink glitter, green on a St. Patrick's Day, and gold and orange for another Rocky Horror costume (on of the Trannies). If you use a different color like a green or blue, I suggest using black eye pencil underneath, as it will make the color of the glitter stand out better. This lip will stay on the entire night if you're careful. You can easily drink as long as you have a straw, and simply be mindful about eating. I did this look so often for Rocky Horror purposes that I got really good with keeping it on for hours, even after a couple slices of pizza!
